Fabric Flowers Round-Up

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

So, I have been super sick and super busy for the past 2 weeks. Not a good combination for blogging. But I am back and I come bearing gifts! Check out the flowery goodness in this post.

I know that DIY is not for everybody. But you know I love it, so I wanted to share some of the fabulous DIY fabric flower options that have been circulating lately. I actually have three brides using different fabric flowers for very different things. (Think: escort cards, favor tags, chair decor, and even a cool photobooth backdrop!). They do not consider themselves DIY-savvy, so that just goes to show how easy it can be to make and incorporate these into your wedding. Of course, they also have my help, so I guess that counts too! ;) But seriously. Nothing makes me happier than sewing together fabric flowers while watching, "Stranger Than Fiction" or "Love Actually" or "The Wedding Crashers." It is strangely therapeutic for me. Meaning: if any of you need some DIY-lovin' (DIT - Do.It.Together), feel free to give me a shout!

Without further ado, here are some of my favorite fabric flowers and their tutorials!

The crowning glory peony by Martha Stewart, tutorial found here

Silk dupioni flowers by Posh Paperie with tutorial here on Style Me Pretty

Another Martha Stewart piece and another silk dupioni option. Tutorial here

cotton and tulle flowers via 100 Layer Cake and the tutorial, of course!

shredded fabric chrysanthemums via Elizabeth Anne Designs, with tutorial here

the ever-popular fabric flower garlands via Once Wed with their tutorial here

And last but not least this cute frayed fabric flower that would be perfect for a rustic wedding
via Maize in Montana and tutorial here

Finally, if DIY is simply not your thing, head on over to Emerson Made because those lovelies are just amazing. I want to sleep in a bed of these roses! Please. And thank you.
